Use Toolmu search-organizations-idealist to search the topic or organization name I provide in everyday words. Reuse a working Toolmu connection or follow https://toolmu.com/SKILL.md to connect. Check current inputs, availability and credit ceilings; all lookups and pages must fit my authorization and total budget. Prepare actual keywords and manage the initial zero-indexed page internally, using returned page information for more pages only when requested. If I ask for a category, map a clear nonprofit, social enterprise or B Corp source-category choice to the documented option, clarifying unfamiliar or unsupported types rather than inventing codes or certification. Do not ask me for IDs, category codes, coordinates or meter values. For a geographic request ask for a familiar city/place and distance; apply location/radius only after reliable supported location data is obtained and convert units internally. Never invent coordinates or present location keywords as a radius filter. If location cannot be confirmed, clarify an ordinary address or whether I want keyword/category search without geographic filtering. Summarize actual names, missions, descriptions, focus areas, locations and source categories. Keep hiring/volunteer-interest indications separate from actual opportunity counts; missing text and incomplete match counts remain unresolved. No legal registration, certification or current activity is verified. Preserve actual selected row information for a separately requested profile or postings lookup within the cumulative budget.

Task:

Idealist

Find organizations on Idealist by topic or area

Describe the topic or organization name you want to find. Your assistant searches Idealist profiles and reviews names, missions, focus areas, locations and available activity information.

You receive

Review one page of organization profiles with available names, mission or description, focus areas, source categories and locations. Hiring and volunteer-interest indications can help select profiles for further review; full details or postings require a separate lookup. Page information and the source’s match count include any completeness indication.

Start with your task

Search Idealist for [topic or organization name]. Start with the first page and show names, missions or descriptions, focus areas, cities, source categories, hiring and volunteering information, and profile pages.

What to know

Directory categories do not verify legal registration or certification. Activity indicators are not current opportunity counts, and missing text stays unknown. A non-exhaustive count does not establish a complete active-organization directory.

Result schema

No fixed output contract is available. Field types reflect saved result evidence; individual responses can differ.

Result schema
Field / Path	Type	Meaning
Organization entries`result.data.hits`	`array`	Organization search entries for this page, rather than full profiles or all active organizations.
Organization name`result.data.hits[].name`	`string`	Name associated with the Idealist directory record.
Organization ID`result.data.hits[].objectID`	`string`	Identifier for selecting this organization in a separate detail or postings lookup.
English organization profile`result.data.hits[].url.en`	`string`	English source-profile reference when provided.
Mission text`result.data.hits[].mission`	`string \| null`	Organizational mission supplied by the source. It can be present independently of description; null remains unknown.
Organization description`result.data.hits[].description`	`null \| string`	Source description when provided. A null description does not mean mission text is absent.
Focus areas`result.data.hits[].areasOfFocus`	`array`	List of source focus-area labels describing the record’s context.
Directory category`result.data.hits[].orgType`	`string`	Organization category reported by Idealist, not independent registration or certification verification.
Organization city`result.data.hits[].city`	`string`	City listed in the directory record.
Organization country`result.data.hits[].country`	`string`	Country value provided for the organization location.
Hiring indicator`result.data.hits[].hiring`	`boolean`	Whether the source marks this organization as hiring. It is not a vacancy count or a current opening confirmation.
Volunteer-interest indicator`result.data.hits[].seekingVolunteers`	`boolean`	Whether the source marks the organization as seeking volunteers; preserve the returned boolean.
Returned page`result.data.page`	`number`	Zero-based page number in this response.
Reported search pages`result.data.nbPages`	`number`	Source page count, subject to the documented access limit and search completeness.
Reported matches`result.data.nbHits`	`number`	Reported matching entries. Read exhaustiveNbHits before treating it as an exhaustive directory count.
Count completeness`result.data.exhaustiveNbHits`	`boolean`	Whether the source reports the matching-entry count as exhaustive; false stays non-exhaustive.

Additional notes

Start with a subject or organization-name keyword when you are exploring a cause. A source profile can carry mission text even when a separate description is missing, so read the available text rather than treating a null description as no organizational purpose.

To look within an area, supply latitude and longitude and a radius in meters. Request page 0 first, then choose further pages explicitly. The supplier documents 20 entries per page and access to up to 50 pages; reported totals need their completeness flag, and pagination does not make the directory exhaustive.

Keep activity indicators separate from opportunity listings. Use a profile reference or organization ID to investigate a selected record; supported search choices are in the current Tool input requirements.
