Find domains that link to a website
Give your Agent a website domain to find up to 20 backlink source-domain records from DataForSEO's index, with reported link counts, source-to-target contribution scores and crawler observations.
You receive
Identify the domains reported as linking to your target website and compare their available backlink and source-page counts. The returned records can include contribution scores, a reported average spam indicator, UTC discovery and loss dates, and six link-category maps. A separate indexed main-domain total helps put the returned list in context.
Start with your task
For [website link], show up to 20 websites with links that open it. For each, show how many links and web pages were found, plus dates if available. Scores are estimates, not where a site appears in Google search. The list may miss websites or recent changes.
What to know
The limit is 20 records, with no guaranteed distinct-domain or strongest-first selection. The indexed total groups root domains and their subdomains and is not the returned record count. This is an indexed subset, not a complete current inventory or new crawl; individual source-page URLs and anchor text are not returned. Supplier scores and observations do not establish authority, penalties, traffic or current link availability.

Referring-domain reportreferringDomains
object
A bounded source-domain report for the requested website, drawn from DataForSEO's backlink index.
Target domainreferringDomains.target
string
The website domain to which this report's backlinks point.
Returned record countreferringDomains.items_count
number
The supplier's count of records included in this response. Read the actual items array to see which records were delivered.
The supplier's relevant referring main-domain total, grouping a root domain and its subdomains together. It is different from the returned record count and backlink total.
Returned source-domain recordsreferringDomains.items
array
Up to 20 records, each with a reported domain and available counts, supplier indicators, observation dates and category maps. No selection order or distinct-domain guarantee is established.
Source domainreferringDomains.items[].domain
string
The domain reported as a backlink source. This is a domain value, not a list of individual source-page addresses.
Backlinks from this sourcereferringDomains.items[].backlinks
number
Reported links from this source-domain record to the requested target. Multiple links may come from one page.
DataForSEO's modeled link rank passed by this referring website to the target, using the supplier's default 0–1000 scale. It is not the source's general authority score or a search position.
Reported average spam indicatorreferringDomains.items[].backlinks_spam_score
number
The supplier's average backlink spam indicator supplied on this record. Use it as a model summary, not a calibrated penalty probability or a link-removal instruction.
First backlink discoveryreferringDomains.items[].first_seen
string
UTC time when the supplier crawler first found a relevant backlink. It does not date domain registration, link publication or the latest refresh.
Last-backlink loss observationreferringDomains.items[].lost_date
null
UTC time when the last backlink from this domain was lost according to the supplier. Null means no date was supplied; it does not establish a never-lost history.
Pages with a nofollow linkreferringDomains.items[].referring_pages_nofollow
number
Reported source pages with at least one nofollow link to the target. They can also contain other links.
Domains with a nofollow linkreferringDomains.items[].referring_domains_nofollow
number
Reported domains with at least one nofollow link to the target. This does not form an exclusive split of all sources.
Main domains with a nofollow linkreferringDomains.items[].referring_main_domains_nofollow
number
Reported main domains with at least one nofollow link to the target, kept separate from domain/subdomain counts.
Links by source suffixreferringDomains.items[].referring_links_tld
object
Link counts grouped by reported domain suffix. Categories can be limited; this counts links rather than source domains.
Links by typereferringDomains.items[].referring_links_types
object
Link counts by reported type, such as anchor, image or redirect. The available types depend on the record.
Links by attributereferringDomains.items[].referring_links_attributes
object | null
Reported counts by link attribute. Attributes can coexist on one link; null is an unreported mapping, not a zero count.
Links by platform labelreferringDomains.items[].referring_links_platform_types
object
Link counts by the supplier's platform labels. These labels may overlap or be unknown; they are not verified business classifications.
Links by page locationreferringDomains.items[].referring_links_semantic_locations
object
Link counts by the supplier's HTML-location labels. Preserve blank or unknown labels as returned.
Links by country codereferringDomains.items[].referring_links_countries
object
Link counts grouped by reported country codes for domains where the links are located. Preserve WW and blank keys; these are not visitor locations.
Share a website link
Paste [website link], for example [https://www.example.com]. A full link works; you do not need to edit it. The lookup covers the whole website.
The total may combine a website with its related web addresses, while the list shows each address separately. That is why the numbers may differ.
For [website link], show up to 20 websites with links that open it. For each, show how many links and web pages were found, plus dates if available. Scores are estimates, not where a site appears in Google search. The list may miss websites or recent changes.
What scores and dates tell you
A score is an estimate, not where a website appears in Google search. It does not prove links improved its position. A date tells when information was recorded, not whether a link still works today.
Questions about this tool.
Inputs, results and details to know before running it.
Provide one bare website domain, such as example.com, using 3–253 characters without a scheme, www. or a path. The Tool returns up to 20 source-domain records. It has no date, sorting, filtering or pagination input, and does not promise a strongest-first selection.
The indexed total counts relevant main or root domains, grouping each root with its subdomains. The response count describes the records actually delivered, with a maximum of 20. These are different units; neither the returned list nor its order establishes a complete or distinct-domain inventory.
A source page can contain several backlinks. Page, domain, main-domain, IP and subnet counts describe separate units; the domain metric counts subdomains separately while the main-domain metric groups them. A source with at least one nofollow link can also have other links, so nofollow counts cannot be subtracted to produce an exclusive follow-link population.
Contribution rank models the link rank a referring website passes to the target, normally on a 0–1000 scale. It is not a general domain-authority rating or Google position. The average spam indicator is a supplier summary reported on the record; it is not a calibrated penalty risk or a verdict about which individual links to remove.
First discovery is when the supplier crawler found a relevant backlink. Loss records when the last backlink from that domain was lost. Both use UTC; a null loss date only means none was supplied. They do not establish domain registration, exact link publication, the latest index update or present link availability.
Attribute and platform labels can overlap, and some mappings may be null. The supplier's default limit covers ten entries each for domain suffix, link type, attribute, platform and HTML-location categories; country codes are outside that stated cap. Preserve WW, blank and unknown labels without inventing countries or forcing category sums to equal the backlink count.
You receive source domains and their reported summaries, rather than each linking page's address or anchor text. The supplier index can have more relevant domains than the returned records, and coverage and observation dates vary. Use this list to identify sources for separate investigation, keeping zero, null and missing values distinct.
