Use referring-domains-ahrefs (Tool ID 7f7dcd7a-bd15-4d1f-93c6-ee750bedf665). Reuse my Toolmu connection or follow https://toolmu.com/SKILL.md, within my current authorization and budget. Ask for target if missing. Send queryParams target example.com, mode domain, protocol both, limit 20 and order_by domain_rating:desc; omit where unless I request a filter. Report actual distinct referring-domain rows. DR belongs to each source domain; total links and its dofollow subset are not additive. first_seen is Ahrefs' first discovery of a backlink FROM that domain TO target; last_seen is the recorded loss date of its last live backlink, not a last verification time. Preserve null/missing values and do not infer current live status. Scope/protocol apply to the target URLs. The row cap can omit domains; do not claim a complete inventory, individual source-page URLs, root-only grouping, contacts, spam diagnosis or SEO gains. Use only the six supported inputs; history/date/country/select are not exposed. Additional queries or outreach require authorization.

Task:
List up to [20] websites that link to [https://example.com]. Show each site's link score and how many links it has, when a link was first found, and when its last working link disappeared if known. The score is not a Google ranking. A missing date does not tell us whether a link still works.

Referring Domains · Ahrefs

Enter a domain or URL to see the domains Ahrefs records as linking to it, with each source domain’s DR, backlink counts and discovery or loss dates.

You receive

Get a bounded list of distinct referring domains, their Domain Rating, total backlinks, the dofollow subset, the first backlink discovery date and the date the last live backlink was lost, when supplied. Use these records to compare linking sources.

Start with your task

List up to [20] websites that link to [https://example.com]. Show each site's link score and how many links it has, when a link was first found, and when its last working link disappeared if known. The score is not a Google ranking. A missing date does not tell us whether a link still works.

What to know

These are Ahrefs index records. The row cap can leave domains out, and a missing loss date does not prove a domain's links are live now. This report does not provide individual source-page URLs or contact details.

Input schema

Input schema
Field / Path	Type	Requirement	Meaning
queryParams`queryParams`	`object`	Required	Required fields `target`
Target scope`queryParams.mode`	`string`	Optional	Optional exact, prefix, domain or subdomains; default subdomains. exact selects this URL, prefix URLs starting with the target, domain excludes subdomains, and subdomains includes them. This selects target URLs, not a root-only grouping of source domains. Default `subdomains` Options `exact, prefix, domain, subdomains`
Maximum domain rows`queryParams.limit`	`integer`	Optional	Optional integer from 1 to 100; default 100. Caps referring-domain rows, not individual backlinks. Results can contain fewer rows, including none; the cap does not establish complete coverage. Default `100` Minimum `1` Maximum `100`
Optional domain-record filter`queryParams.where`	`string`	Optional	A nonempty string containing an Ahrefs JSON filter expression. Supported fields: domain, domain_rating, links_to_target, dofollow_links, first_seen and last_seen. Use the documented date meanings; this is not a report-date or live-history selector. Minimum length `1`
Target domain or URL`queryParams.target`	`string`	Required	Required nonempty string, such as example.com or https://example.com/page. Together with mode, selects the recipient URLs whose referring domains are requested. Minimum length `1`
Optional domain-record order`queryParams.order_by`	`string`	Optional	Comma-separated field or field:desc. Supported fields: domain, domain_rating, links_to_target, dofollow_links, first_seen and last_seen. For example, domain_rating:desc orders by source-domain DR; no default order is promised here. Minimum length `1`
Target protocol`queryParams.protocol`	`string`	Optional	Optional both, http or https; default both. Selects the target URL protocol, not the protocol or current validity of source backlinks. Default `both` Options `both, http, https`

Additional notes

Use this domain-level report to see which recorded sources contribute links to the chosen target. A source domain can provide many backlinks, so a domain-row count and its backlink count answer different questions. The dofollow count is the subset without the nofollow attribute, not an extra total or a guarantee of SEO benefit.

Keep the target scope, protocol, row cap and any filter with your comparison. Source-domain DR describes relative backlink strength, not the target's score or a quality verdict. The discovery date concerns a backlink from that domain; the loss date concerns its last live backlink. Neither proves a page publication time or a fresh live check.

This is a bounded view of Ahrefs records. Missing dates remain unknown, and the returned rows do not establish a complete set of currently live sources.

A referring domain can have several backlinks to the target but occupies one domain row. Its total backlink count includes its dofollow subset; adding the subset again would double-count those links.
