Read the history wording

The CARFAX value guide explains that vehicle history can affect value and that CARFAX may not have every historical event. Keep each returned factor’s wording: “No Accidents Reported” describes the available reports. A direction marker does not tell you how much that factor changed the value.

Keep payment assumptions together

Read a monthly-payment figure together with its loan amount, down payment and term. Its price assumption may differ from another quoted price, so compare the actual values before comparing estimates.

Use the units supplied with the record. An interest-rate number without a stated scale or annual basis cannot be treated as an APR; a down-payment percentage does not establish that rate’s unit. Missing taxes or fees should remain unspecified.
