Use Toolmu to find the industry for the company I describe. If I give you only a company name, look up its website by name first. Before using a paid lookup, tell me the price and ask for my approval. If I provide a website, use it. If I provide a LinkedIn company page, use it as an extra clue. If more than one company seems to match, ask me which one I mean before continuing. Then look up the industry and report the company matched and the actual label returned; if no label is found, say so. Never guess.

Task:
What industry is [company name] in? If another company has a similar name, use [company website or LinkedIn company page] to help confirm the right one.

You receive

The result can include an industry label, such as Software Development, together with the record’s completion status. Your Agent can explain the label and add it to your company list for grouping and further research.

Start with your task

What industry is [company name] in? If another company has a similar name, use [company website or LinkedIn company page] to help confirm the right one.

What to know

Use an available label together with its record status. It does not establish a NAICS/SIC industry code or a measure of classification accuracy.

Result schema

No fixed output contract is available. Field types reflect saved result evidence; individual responses can differ.

Result schema
Field / Path	Type	Meaning
Industry label`result.data[].result.Industry`	`string`	The industry classification returned for the company, for example Software Development. Read it alongside the record status.
Record status`result.data[].status`	`string`	Processing status for an individual company record. Read its actual industry label separately; completion alone does not measure accuracy.
Overall result status`result.status`	`string`	Overall processing status for the returned classification result, separate from each record’s status.
Total records`result.total`	`number`	The total record count reported for the result. Read it separately from the labels that are actually available.
Finished records`result.finished`	`number`	The count of records marked finished. It describes processing progress, not the number of distinct industries.

Additional notes

Keep the original label when grouping companies

If your company list uses its own categories, keep the returned industry label in a separate column before mapping it to those categories. You can then change your grouping without rewriting the original label. A finished-record count describes processing progress, not the number of industries associated with a company.

Yes. The AI can look up the company’s website by name before requesting its industry. If more than one business matches, it will ask you to confirm using the company’s website or LinkedIn page. A separate website lookup may cost extra; the AI will tell you the price and ask before using it.
