# YouTube content research

## Before you start

Read [the shared research contract](../connect-toolmu/references/research-data.md) and [marketplace usage](../connect-toolmu/references/marketplace-usage.md). Use the existing Toolmu connection. The agent performs analysis; Toolmu supplies the evidence.

## Inputs

Topic or channel link, target audience, language/country, video format, and production constraints.

Ask only for information that changes the task. Accept ordinary links and names; resolve technical identifiers from verified results. Confirm missing market or scope before dependent paid calls.

## Tool selection

Inspect the current contract with Toolmu `get_tool`, then call `execute_tool` only for the steps that need data:

- `video-search-youtube`
- `youtube-channel-id-from-url-v2-youtube`
- `youtube-channel-information-youtube`
- `youtube-channel-videos-youtube`
- `youtube-video-information-v2-youtube`
- `youtube-channel-video-comments-youtube`
- `youtube-video-captions-youtube`

The catalog's current input and credit ceiling override examples in this document. Do not fabricate parameters, silently use a different supplier, or treat a search snippet as full source content.

## Workflow

1. Resolve supplied channel links and confirm the audience and format. Distinguish Shorts from longer videos.

2. Search two or three topic variants or inspect one page of the relevant channel's videos. Record queries, dates, language/country, and continuation state.

3. Read details for up to five comparable videos. Compare publication age, channel scale, format, title promise, and public engagement; do not compare raw views alone.

4. Read a bounded comment sample for audience questions. Request captions only when available and useful; label missing, auto-generated, or partial transcripts accurately.

5. Analyze structure only from material actually read. A title or thumbnail is insufficient evidence of a video's full argument or retention curve.

6. Identify an underserved audience question that the user can answer with original examples or expertise. Write up to three briefs with an opening, sections, proof/assets, and audience action.

## Deliver

A video evidence table with links and collection scope, audience questions, and prioritized video briefs including proposed titles, outlines, and source references.

Include source links, actual market/date, returned sample size, missing coverage, run IDs, and confirmed credits. Let the user's agent choose the presentation; do not invoke an MCP App or a render tool.

## Boundaries

No claim of private retention, subscriber conversion, exact YouTube query volume, or complete transcripts when unavailable.

## Example request

> Research videos about [topic] for [audience] and propose [three] original video briefs.
