# SEO content gap analysis

## Before you start

Read [the shared research contract](../connect-toolmu/references/research-data.md) and [marketplace usage](../connect-toolmu/references/marketplace-usage.md). Use the existing Toolmu connection. The agent performs analysis; Toolmu supplies the evidence.

## Inputs

Website or content inventory, audience, market, business goal, and available publishing capacity.

Ask only for information that changes the task. Accept ordinary links and names; resolve technical identifiers from verified results. Confirm missing market or scope before dependent paid calls.

## Tool selection

Inspect the current contract with Toolmu `get_tool`, then call `execute_tool` only for the steps that need data:

- `google-relevant-pages-dataforseo`
- `google-ranked-keywords-dataforseo`
- `google-keyword-suggestions-dataforseo`
- `google-keyword-overview-dataforseo`
- `google-organic-serp-search-dataforseo`
- `onpage-content-parsing-dataforseo`

The catalog's current input and credit ceiling override examples in this document. Do not fabricate parameters, silently use a different supplier, or treat a search snippet as full source content.

## Workflow

1. Build a page inventory from the supplied sitemap/list and accessible important pages. Ranking samples are a supplement, not a complete inventory.

2. Separate existing coverage into audience problems and funnel stages using the actual page content. Identify obsolete, thin, or overlapping pages.

3. Expand two promising themes with keyword suggestions and inspect metrics for a small relevant shortlist.

4. Check live SERPs for the three strongest themes and read representative pages to verify intent and whether users expect a guide, comparison, template, or product page.

5. Assign each opportunity to update, merge, create, or defer. Prefer strengthening an existing relevant page over creating a duplicate query target.

6. Write briefs for the first three opportunities: reader task, angle, source/proof requirements, outline, internal links, conversion action, and acceptance criteria.

7. Explain which observed gaps are worth addressing with the user's actual expertise and capacity, and which remain unproven.

## Deliver

An inventory coverage summary and a prioritized editorial backlog with existing/proposed URLs, target queries, measured evidence, action, brief, and explicit reasons to defer.

Include source links, actual market/date, returned sample size, missing coverage, run IDs, and confirmed credits. Let the user's agent choose the presentation; do not invoke an MCP App or a render tool.

## Boundaries

Do not equate missing keywords in a capped sample with missing site content. Do not produce many speculative articles solely because a keyword has volume.

## Example request

> Find [three] content gaps for [website URL] and tell us which existing pages to update first.
