# SEO competitor analysis

## Before you start

Read [the shared research contract](../connect-toolmu/references/research-data.md) and [marketplace usage](../connect-toolmu/references/marketplace-usage.md). Use the existing Toolmu connection. The agent performs analysis; Toolmu supplies the evidence.

## Inputs

Your website, target market, and up to three known competitor domains. If competitors are unknown, identify them from the same target-query SERPs.

Ask only for information that changes the task. Accept ordinary links and names; resolve technical identifiers from verified results. Confirm missing market or scope before dependent paid calls.

## Tool selection

Inspect the current contract with Toolmu `get_tool`, then call `execute_tool` only for the steps that need data:

- `google-search-competitor-domains-dataforseo`
- `google-ranked-keywords-dataforseo`
- `google-relevant-pages-dataforseo`
- `google-domain-keyword-intersection-dataforseo`
- `google-organic-serp-search-dataforseo`
- `onpage-content-parsing-dataforseo`

The catalog's current input and credit ceiling override examples in this document. Do not fabricate parameters, silently use a different supplier, or treat a search snippet as full source content.

## Workflow

1. Read the user's product and audience. Separate commercial competitors from sites that compete only for search rankings.

2. Choose two or three comparable domains and one common market and date window. If a tool cannot supply that market, report the mismatch instead of combining unlike data.

3. Read ranked keywords and relevant pages for each domain. Record returned counts, limits, and pagination availability; these are samples unless completeness is established.

4. Use intersection only to examine shared keywords. Do not describe its output as missing keywords. Candidate gaps need evidence from competitor ranking data and the user's page inventory.

5. Check up to three candidate queries in live SERPs and read the competing pages. Compare what question each page answers, format, proof, freshness, and next action.

6. Recommend specific updates or new pages that the user's product can credibly support. Separate page-level opportunities from unsupported estimates of competitor revenue or total traffic.

## Deliver

A comparison of domains and sampled pages, a keyword evidence table, and three prioritized page actions with original URLs, evidence, proposed differentiation, and effort. Keep shared-keyword findings distinct from validated missing-page opportunities.

Include source links, actual market/date, returned sample size, missing coverage, run IDs, and confirmed credits. Let the user's agent choose the presentation; do not invoke an MCP App or a render tool.

## Boundaries

No claim of all-channel traffic, conversion rate, ad spend, or complete competitor coverage from organic ranking samples.

## Example request

> Compare [our website] with [competitor websites] for [country and language] and show which pages we should improve first.
