# Demand opportunity validation

## Before you start

Read [the shared research contract](../connect-toolmu/references/research-data.md) and [marketplace usage](../connect-toolmu/references/marketplace-usage.md). Use the existing Toolmu connection. The agent performs analysis; Toolmu supplies the evidence.

## Inputs

Proposed solution, target user/task, market/language, current alternatives, and constraints for an initial experiment.

Ask only for information that changes the task. Accept ordinary links and names; resolve technical identifiers from verified results. Confirm missing market or scope before dependent paid calls.

## Tool selection

Inspect the current contract with Toolmu `get_tool`, then call `execute_tool` only for the steps that need data:

- `reddit-search-across-content-types-reddit`
- `reddit-app-post-comments-reddit`
- `search-notes-xiaohongshu`
- `get-note-comments-xiaohongshu`
- `google-keyword-suggestions-dataforseo`
- `google-keyword-overview-dataforseo`
- `google-bulk-keyword-difficulty-dataforseo`
- `google-organic-serp-search-dataforseo`
- `onpage-content-parsing-dataforseo`

The catalog's current input and credit ceiling override examples in this document. Do not fabricate parameters, silently use a different supplier, or treat a search snippet as full source content.

## Workflow

1. State the falsifiable hypothesis: which user has which recurring problem, how they solve it today, and what improvement the proposed product would offer.

2. Search problem, workaround, and alternative terms on one chosen social platform. Read up to five independent discussions and relevant comments, including reasons users may not need a new product.

3. Translate observed wording into a small keyword set. Inspect volume and KD in one explicit market, then live SERPs for up to three candidates.

4. Read the current alternatives' public pages. Separate product competition, search ranking competition, and paid advertising competition; these are different facts.

5. Build an evidence matrix for problem frequency in the sample, severity, current spending/workaround, search behavior, alternatives, and reachable audience.

6. Decide test now, narrow the segment, or insufficient evidence, with reasons and counterevidence. Do not infer customer population or revenue from searches.

7. Design one inexpensive experiment: landing proposition, audience/source to recruit from, measurable action, success/failure criterion, and fixed budget/time bound. Do not launch ads or contact people automatically.

## Deliver

An evidence-backed opportunity memo, source-linked problem/keyword/alternative tables, explicit unknowns, and a concrete validation experiment.

Include source links, actual market/date, returned sample size, missing coverage, run IDs, and confirmed credits. Let the user's agent choose the presentation; do not invoke an MCP App or a render tool.

## Boundaries

Search volume counts searches, not unique people, buyers, or willingness to pay. Social samples do not estimate a market size; KD does not measure how crowded a product category is.

## Example request

> Validate whether [audience] needs [idea] in [market] using real discussions and search evidence.
